Whitney Pitalo, Lochlin Deeks and honored Friday as Junior Espitia Salem sports and Breakfast Club athlete of the year.
Pitalo, senior football players from southern Salem, named after the girl’s soccer player of the year after scoring 24 goals and 11 assists. Pitalo is three times first-team all-Central Valley Conference selection and the League’s offensive player of the year for the second year.
Deeks, senior midfielder from West Salem, named after football defensive player of the year. He had 69 tackles this season, including 11 for loss, and was named first-team all-CVC for the third time and the League’s defensive player of the year.
Clubs meet on Fridays 6: 30 pm at the Goudy Commons Willamette University. The community is welcome.
